How to Build a Shelf in a Shower
1. Remove the Grout
Using the handheld grout saw that’s included in your kit, carefully remove the grout along the area where you’re planning to install your GoShelf. To ensure a clean workspace, you may want to vacuum any remaining dust from the area.
2. Glue Anchoring Plates
Then, you’ll take the enclosed anchoring plates and cover the half of the plate that will be inserted into the wall with the adhesive. Make sure to apply the adhesive on the top and bottom of the plates. If you want to keep your tub area tidy, consider putting down an old towel so you don’t have to worry about cleaning up any spilled any glue.
3. Insert Anchor Plates
With your anchor plates thinly coated with the adhesive, you can now insert them into the space you created with your grout saw. They should be evenly spaced and fit snugly into the wall.
4. Glue Channels
Next, you’ll take your GoShelf and insert the tip of the adhesive applicator into the channels along the sides of the shelf. Carefully squeeze the glue into the channels before placing the shelf onto the anchoring plates. You may want to have a damp rag on hand to wipe off any excess glue.
5. Install Your GoShelf
While the glue is still wet, slide your GoShelf onto the anchoring plates. Firmly push the shelf into the corner of the wall ensuring a tight fit.
Wait for the adhesive to dry completely around your GoShelf. As with many DIY projects, the waiting can sometimes be the hardest part! Once it’s dry, you can apply either grout or caulk for a long-lasting waterproof seal.
Once your GoShelf is installed, you’ll have a new shower shelf that can hold up to 200 lbs! If you’d like to see how it’s done, take a look at our instructional video!
