I’m a tile contractor out of Delaware and every once in a while I get a call from a customer that would like to add shelves to an existing tiled wall. Now if you ever done this before you know that it’s not an easy task! For a few good reasons – You need to cut the tiles then carefully remove a good portion of them, making it very easy to break the tiles if you’re not careful. You also ruin the cement boards integrity by cutting into it and pulling/yanking on the tiles to get them off and in most cases you create a hole or gap that go all the way through to the back of the wall making it susceptible to leaks in the future. Also how much time it takes when you do it this way! The GoShelf system really takes the headaches out of this type of project. You simply remove a small amount of grout, add the mounting plates, install the shelf, and then grout/caulk it in. It’s that simple! I would never think of doing this type of project again without the GoShelf system!
This system is great! As tile contractor my customers always want me to install a few stone corner shelves (typically 3-4) on their tub/shower walls. Before using the GoShelf system it would take me at least 10-15 minutes per shelf, cutting the tiles to fit perfect around each one. The GoShelf system makes this much easier. Now I tile all the walls completely and grout (FYI - it’s so nice to grout without the shelves in your way!) and then I install the shelves last using the GoShelf system. No need to cut the tiles perfectly around the tiles because the shelf just slides right into place. It’s absolutely amazing how much faster it is to do it this way!
The shelves were a piece of cake to install and look great!!
I’m not a handy-man or very skilled at home improvement. But I was able to put these shelves in our shower with the accompanying instructions with no problem. Excellent customer service after the sale. They quickly answered all my email questions and gave extra advice on the install. My wife and daughter love the look! The instructions describe using the included grout saw or an angle grinder to cut into the existing tile grout, but I was able to do it with my Dremel 4000 tool with a right-angle attachment and tile cutter blade. Very happy with this product!
Did what it said it would do and does it well.
Easy to install. Looks great.
This product is GREAT! I do not know how you sell them for the price you charge. It is so great to order from the internet and get a product that does EXACTLY what it says it will do. Such a rare thing.
I have tile experience, but even if I did not, I could have finished installing the shelf, grout and all, in less than 15 minutes.(minus drying time) I was originally planning to mount it above the grout line using a dremel diamond blade to slot for the biscuits. This would have been easy as well. Ultimately my wife wanted it in the grout line and it went seamlessly.
I had watched a video before it arrived and literally started installing it minutes after receiving the box.
Thank you for a well made product. Your customer support is great as well.
THANK YOU!
We remodeled our bathroom and my wife and I and our contractor didn’t make a decision about our shelves, so they didn’t get built when the shower got tiled. I thought “well, I’ll figure out something”, but all my potential DIY solutions either looked bad or would have been very complicated. Then I came across the Go Shelf, and my problems were solved.
The video tutorial made it clear that this was something I could do on my own, without too much trouble, and would look nice. Really, really nice job on that video. So I bought to marble shelves and installed them (used a 1/16th spinning grout removal Dremel bit), and had the whole thing done in an afternoon. Thanks also for including all the little bits for the install. My wife, who is SUPER picky about this stuff, said the fit/finish was the nicest part of the bathroom.
I hope you continue to get found by people like me, sell more shelves and earn a tidy profit on a great product. Thanks!
I just installed three shelves in my tiled shower and am so pleased with the results! My only tile experience is installing small backsplashes, but I was able to do these without a problem.
I purchased two 8” for a bathroom remodel/refurbish for the bathtub area and placed one on each side of the back wall. They went in just as the installation instructions and demo videos said, EASY… I used a bit too much glue, but just kept looking back and cleaned as I saw the drips. Eventually had to use the included razor blade and it cleaned right up on my flat tile… They look fantastic! Now I’m back for two more for a shower… I highly recommend GoShelf!! BTW, I’m not a contractor / pro, just a DIY homeowner… So if I can do it, so can you…
I’m surprised by how much of a difference these shelves make in my shower! I ended up needing to buy a new tool to install them because our grout line was so small I couldn’t use the hand tool. The only thing my husband did was help pick out the color so anyone can install these! Thanks for sending the samples so fast. It took me weeks to decide and then a few months to get the nerve to install the shelves once I had ordered. I wish I had found you sooner because it makes such a difference in our shower. Thank you!
I love doing projects in my home. I have a niche in my shower, but needed more storage space. Impossible with what is on the market that would look good, then I found GoShelf.
Easy installation, color matches my tile and it looks like it’s floating. Try this system you will be glad you did. Beautiful.
Your shelves are awesome. The first shelf took about a half hour. The next two took a half hour total.
This product and the supplies that came with it are perfect for even the most tentative on the mechanically inclined scale. Just get the right blade, multi tool, and small tube of caulk. I wanted to do recessed shelves but many people didn't want the job as it was a PITA and not worth the effort for a small job. This is the solution for builder basic showers that should have had shelves as a standard option. Looks great and in total I spent below the nearest quote I had for shelves by $250.
